Students: Straight Talk on How to Make

People often inaccurately attribute the above quote to Nelson Mandela. However, these beautiful words were written by Marianne Williamson, an insightful writer who champions the power of believing in oneself. This happens to be one of the platforms upon which she is campaigning while running for a seat in Washington..

The poem, it is entirety, is presented here. Though Madiba may not have said these words, his belief in the power of education was undeniable. He would be pleased that we chose to operate on truth.

Our greatest fear is not that we are inadequate,
but that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us.
We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant,
gorgeous, handsome, talented and fabulous?

Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.

Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking
so that other people won't feel insecure around you.

We were born to make manifest the glory of God within us.
It is not just in some; it is in everyone.

And, as we let our own light shine, we consciously give
other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our fear,
our presence automatically liberates others.

My own teen years were not easy. They hardly ever are. However, if I had known the words from this message, I believe my journey may have been filled with fewer tears and more confidence in my decisions. Life is a work in progress. I hope these words are as inspiring for you as they continue to be for me. I hope YOU are ready to take control of the power that is within you!

I've collected a wealth of resources from all over the web that were created just with you in mind. As I find more stuff that I think will make your educational journey easier, I'll pass it on to you...so watch these pages frequently. Moreover, hey - share the wealth - send me your favorite sites, too. I believe that students have an idea of what they need to know to be successful.

If you find something here of valuable, I hope you will share this information with someone who might be blessed by it.

If you have any particular questions or information you'd like to see included here, please let me know! It is my prayer that you find this information helpful and inspiring enough to tell your own unique story!
